This is the biggest Eataly store in USA, and one of the best Italian style grocery in LA together with Bay Cities in Santa Monica.
The quality of the food is superb and very similar to the high standard of real Italian food in Italy.
The food is light, not too greasy like the Italian American version, portions are moderate and not extra large, and taste is fine instead heavy.
The store it can give you a little idea of how real Italian food should taste compare the majority of the American version. -

Usually my favorite spot for food and drinks but menu has changed and also the food isn't as good as it used to be.
Went there on Friday night and ate at the pasta restaurant.
Food was very late and we asked for more bread and olive oil but never received it. THANKFULLY!
Why do you ask I say THANKFULLY? Because the server's helper was extremely UNSANITARY!
When he went to get the bread out of the large bread basket it was challenging so instead of using the TONGS AND A NAPKIN (which they have PLENTY OF) he used his bare hands.
This is after I WATCHED HIM TOUCH HIS FACE, RUB HIS NOSE, and SCRATCH HIS SIDEBURNS.
I WAS IN SHOCK. And sooo happy he wasn't the one serving our bread and olive oil the first time.
It took 30 minutes for our sausage pizza to show up which tasted ok.... nothing to write home about.
The server was apologetic for the wait as the other tables next to us and who ordered after us received their food before us. She offered drinks but we don't drink and had no interest.
Took another 20 minutes for the 2 pasta dishes (tagliata & tagliatelle).... not very flavorful as it used to be. Not sure if the chef was just on his off day or what...
Meanwhile, I'm watching the show of the servers helper touching his face and picking his nose.
This was awful and disgusting. Not wasting my time eating at Eataly again.
Literally lost my appetite all over again after writing about it. -

Mediocre food
Horrible service
Long waiting for food to arrive after order is placed
We had to walk to the front desk to pay our check because the server was no where to be found.
And the front refused to take our payment asking us to wait for our server -

Finally got to give Eataly a try. Was in Los Angeles and our group of 3 had decided on dinner at Terra. But a couple of us had finished early with our conference and headed over to the Westfield's Eataly for a drink & snack.
Stepping inside this place can be overwhelming with all the choices. I would love to have a place like this near me. Fresh pasta, seafood, olive oils, breads, coffees, chocolates, pastries, etc.
Knowing we had dinner around the corner, we opted to grab a couple of seats at the bar area of La Pizza & La Pasta. Ordered a couple glasses of the Sangiovese and the Grande Piatto, chef's selection of artisanal cured meats & cheeses from Italy. Did it taste like I was in Italy? No. Nevertheless it was tasty and perfect to chit chat and catch up as we waited for the third member of our party.
I would definitely visit again. -

Man, I don't know where to start. This was laughingly bad.
Like most on here, I read reviews to get an idea of a place before visiting, and although I know one can't go by just yelp, I enjoy being pleasantly surprised if things tend to go rather well, especially after reading a lot of negative outcomes for a specific business. Here, this didn't end up working out that way.
Previous visits to Eataly haven't been too great to bring me back sooner than later, but these were within different parts of the place so I decided to not judge the food establishments vs. the market or coffee bar under one review until now. Those visits weren't too great on their own but culminating all of my trips here, this particular day determines my overall review and consists of my lunch at the La Pizza/La Pasta area.
First was the hostess(es), one who seemed occupied while the other was clearly in conversation with a male co-worker. I stood for a good 30 seconds (I know that is not a long time but when you overhear casual conversation in a service industry environment, this feels like forever). Finally one of the two break off conversation and she turns to me, no apologies as I inquire about something on the menu. Then she claims she cannot hear me and by now I knew I should have walked away but for some ridiculous reason (angry starving), I didn't. She told me that I could seat myself at the bar and I figured I'd be safe there since I saw none of the sit-down tables occupied while the bar had a few people.
I was hoping for more potential here at the bar but I was sadly mistaken. When I saw him lazily saunter over, I knew I wasn't going to win. He asked me what I wanted to drink (just water at this point) and I put in my order. A few minutes later, I asked if I could be served bread. I do understand some places don't serve it unless you ask, so I figured that might be the reason it wasn't offered, but with the way things were going, who the heck knows.
Food runner brought out my food and he was probably the nicest person I encountered here. Not once did this lazy bartender ask how everything was, if I needed a refill, etc. As for the cacio e pepe, this started off fairly good, but then grew cold and gummy rather quickly. I noticed the bartender disappeared and another girl took his place, so I assume his shift was over, unless he quit or something. As for her-from the little I could tell with my brief interaction-I will say she seemed nicer, but might have been new since she was a little slow making drinks and getting my check to me. But overall, I had a feeling my experience might have been slightly better had she been there initially but I don't plan on returning to find out.
As per the bottom of my receipt (which I posted here), I was thinking about reaching out but figured they probably don't care at all. I guess in a way, I'm letting you know right here. This sucks because it appears people who have visited different locations of Eataly across the U.S. had decent experiences, yet here, they seem to always run out of steam once they reach the west coast.
Simply due to the overall experience, this is the first time I feel as though I wasted my time and wish I had my money back.
